Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 1, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Earnest Software Engineering (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use SynthPost (the “Service”), including synthpost.ai and optional email recap subscriptions.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Email subscriptions: If you sign up for recaps, we store your email address, chosen frequency (weekly or monthly), and a unique token used for unsubscribe and preference links.
- Login (if applicable): Administrative users may authenticate with credentials we issue; we do not offer public self-registration.
Information collected automatically
- Page views and analytics: When you read a link summary, we may record the page visited, approximate time on page, IP address, browser user agent, referrer, language preferences, and a session identifier used to deduplicate views. We classify automated traffic (bots) separately from human readers.
- Search and filters: Search queries on the public index may be logged to improve relevance.
- Theme preference: Your selected color theme is stored in your browser’s local storage and is not sent to our servers.
- Email engagement: If you receive recaps, our email provider may report delivery, open, and bounce events associated with your messages.
Information we do not intentionally collect
We do not require your name, postal address, or payment information to use the public Service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
2. How We Use Information
We use collected information to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Service;
- Generate and display AI summaries of third-party links;
- Send email recaps to subscribers who have opted in;
- Measure readership and detect abusive or automated traffic;
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
3. AI and Third-Party Processing
SynthPost uses third-party services to scrape or fetch source pages, generate summaries with AI models (such as Anthropic Claude), perform search-related tasks, and send email. Content from public URLs you browse on SynthPost may be transmitted to these providers for processing. Each provider’s handling of data is governed by its own privacy policy.
Service providers we use may include, among others:
- AI providers for summarization and related processing;
- Email delivery (e.g., Resend) for recap messages and delivery webhooks;
- Hosting and infrastructure providers that store application logs and databases.
4. Cookies and Similar Technologies
The Service uses session mechanisms required for login and CSRF protection where applicable. We do not use third-party advertising cookies on the public site. Email messages may contain tracking pixels or link parameters used to measure opens and clicks; you can disable images in your mail client to limit this.
5. How Long We Keep Data
Link content and summaries are retained while they remain published on the Service. Subscriber records are kept until you unsubscribe or we delete inactive data. Analytics and server logs are retained for a limited period appropriate for security and operations, then aggregated or deleted.
6. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers who process it on our behalf, when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a merger or acquisition subject to customary protections.
7. Your Choices
- Email recaps: Unsubscribe or change frequency using the link in any recap email or your preference URL.
- Browser storage: Clear local storage to reset theme preference.
- Do Not Track: We do not currently respond to DNT browser signals.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (such as access, correction, or deletion). Contact us using the details below to make a request.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect information. No method of transmission over the Internet is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International Users
The Service is operated from Miami, Florida, United States. If you access it from other regions, your information may be transferred to and processed in the U.S., including on servers located in Florida.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date when we do. Material changes may be noted on the Service or, where appropriate, by email to active subscribers.
11. Contact
